Animation Specialist Program

The Virinchi Multimedia Academy Specialist Program (AAASP) is a highly focused course offering high-end Animation Training with specialization in 3-D Animation. Well researched and professionally designed to meet industry requirements, AAASP strikes the right balance between technology and creativity. Modules include Graphics Suite, 2D Design and Animation, 3D Animation, Advanced 3D Animation and Digital Portfolio Development Suite. The program can be pursued over its full duration of 24 months or specific modules can be opted for based on the student’s aptitude and career goals.

SEMESTER I
ILLUSTRATION AND GRAPHICS SUITE

Overview:
This semester lays a foundation for learning sketching and graphics skills.

Objective:
At the end of this semester, the student will be able to discuss concepts of graphics, illustration, sketching and digital graphics. The student will also be able to create and edit images and publish them for different industries.

Learning Outcomes: Visualization of illustrations, imagery, creation of digital graphics, editing and optimization of graphics.

MODULES:
Fundamentals of Computers, Multimedia and Internet:
Discuss the basics of computer, operating system, multimedia and fundamentals of internet.

Basic Art:
Discuss how to improve their drawing skills using the new drawing books.

Concepts of Graphics and Illustrations:
Discuss design techniques, visual thinking, concept development, composition and typography. They will also be able to develop their own personal style, vision and design. Furthermore, they will be able to discuss elements of art such as objects, texture, color theory, space and character design.

Creating Illustrations:
Apply learning to create graphics that heighten the appearance of web content, product designs, business graphics, logo designing. They will also be able to create graphics for print medium like, brochures, flyers, artwork, corporate presentations, CD-ROM, and CBTs.

Sketching Practices:
Discuss various sketching practices.

Image Magic:
Discuss how to use image-editing tools, edit and retouch images, apply special effects. They will also learn to adjust color balance to produce images that resemble watercolors and oils and produce dynamic graphics for the web with interactive buttons and rollovers.

Project – Illustration Portfolio:
Apply the knowledge gained to create a complete simulated project in Graphics and Illustration.

Technology – Value Addition:
Discuss the fundamentals of design and visualization in detail.

SEMESTER II
2D DESIGN AND ANIMATION SUITE

Overview:
This semester enhances skills in anatomy study, storyboarding, 2D Animation and audio-video editing.

Objective:
At the end of this semester, the student will be able to discuss multimedia elements like audio, video and 2D Animation and apply the same for effective web & multimedia production.

Learning Outcomes:
Storyboarding, develop streaming audio, record and edit audio files, create video content, produce streaming video for the web, create 2D Animation and develop 2D animation portfolio.

Anatomy Study:
Discuss (humans & animals) in detail.

Concepts of 2D Animation:
Discuss the 2D Animation production process.

Concepts of Storyboarding:
Create a project systematically.

Working with Audio:
Describe the basics of audio, audio recording and capturing. They will also be able to change audio attributes like pitch, tempo and amplify sound.

Video Streaming and Editing:
Perform non-linear editing and produce streaming videos for the web.

Graphics and Animation with Flash:
Create animated graphics, add sound and produce animated movies.

Scripting with Flash:
Design interactive elements and interactive movies for websites.

Advanced Scripting with Flash:
Create their own interactive websites.

Project – 2D Animation Portfolio:
Apply their learning to create a simulated project in 2D Animation.

Technology – Value Addition:
Discuss classical Animation / ToonBoom Storyboard Pro in detail.

SEMESTER III
3D ANIMATION SUITE


Overview: This semester covers 3D Animation and special effects.

Objective:
At the end of this semester, the student will be able to visualize and create 3D Animation and special effects.

Learning Outcomes:
Develop 3D Animation with special effects and develop a 3D Animation portfolio.

MODULES:
Concepts of 3D and Animation:
State the principles of Animation, types of Animation, concepts of Animation, accessories and storyboarding in Animation. This will include the fundamentals of 3D Animation like projections, views, maps, lighting and character design.

Modeling with 3D:
Discuss the interface and tools used to create and model 3D objects. The student will also be able to discuss 3D object modeling techniques for 3D scenes.

Lights, Camera & Animation:
Discuss the effect of light, material and colors on 3D objects and their combination with other features to create visually realistic 3D scenes.

Painting 3D Objects:
Demonstrate how to paint 3D objects.

Character Animation & Visual FX:
Learn and create 3D character Animation and visual effects. They will also be able to describe the effect of animating complex models and objects.

Concepts of Digital Filmmaking:
Describe the elements of digital film making and editing with the core compositing areas including tracking and stabilizing.

Visual FX:
Discuss digital compositing and mixing of clips with professional visual effects. They will also be able to describe how plug-ins can enhance visuals and make them realistic.

Project – 3D Animation Portfolio:
Apply their knowledge and create a project using 3D modeling, Animation and visual effects.

Technology – Value Addition:
Discuss the concepts of character design in Animation.

SEMESTER IV
ADVANCED 3D ANIMATION SUITE


Overview:
This semester covers advanced 3D Animation techniques.

Objective:
At the end of this semester, the student will be able to demonstrate the skills for visualizing and 3D creating Animation.

Learning Outcomes:
Develop high-end 3D Animation.

Modeling with Maya:
Create models using Maya.

Texturing with Maya:
Apply texturing effects when using Maya.

Lighting and Rendering with Maya:
Apply lighting effects and execute the same after rendering using Maya.

Rigging with Maya:
Apply rigging using Maya.

Character Animation with Maya:
Apply their learning to animate characters using Maya.

SEMESTER V
SPECILIZATION AND PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT SUITE


Overview:
This semester covers advanced Maya tools with specialization in the area of interest and portfolio development.

Objective:
At the end of this semester, the student will be able to learn the advanced features in Maya besides learning to animate the characters. They will also be able to master in the area of specialization and create a project in the chosen area of specialization.

Advanced Maya, specialization and portfolio making.

MODULES:
Paint Effects and Dynamics Using Maya:
Create paint effects and dynamics.

Realistic Features with Maya:
Learn new features of Maya (version upgrades).

Character Animation with Motion Builder:
Animate characters with motion builder.

Specialization:
Students can select any one from 4 different areas of specialization
(1) Modeling & Texturing
(2) Lighting & Rendering
(3) Rigging & Animation
(4) Compositing & VFX.

They will also be able to enhance their skills in the chosen area of specialization.

Project – Portfolio Demo Reel:
